Plot

“Fall Risk” is a muslcal dramedy based on the life of Nicole Kohr. The story follows Gabriella “Gabby” Michaels, an actress and cystic fibrosis patient. Things grow complicated when Gabby receives the lead role in a local community theater production in the midst of a bilateral lung transplant evaluation. Now, it’s up to her family, her doctor, and her director to convince her which is more important.

All characters and events in this show—even those based on real people—are fictional. This is in no way sponsored, approved, endorsed by, or affiliated with the names and titles mentioned in the production.

Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a chronic, genetic, and life-threatening disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system through an overproduction of mucus. As recently as the 1990’s, a diagnosis with CF was considered a mark of death. “Fall Risk” creator Nicole Kohr, for example, was diagnosed at age five and told she wouldn’t live to be 10. CF patients are famously known for their “junky” coughs, salty sweat, and shortened life spans. Thanks to research and development led by organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), the median age for CF patients is now 54 years old.
